"In this entrancing new collection, Eithne Cavanagh pays homage to a range of birds, from over-wintering brent geese to the resident wren, from the colourful waxwing to 'mere gulls'. Accompanied by beautiful photographs by Colum Clarke, Cavanagh's finely-crafted poems exude deep knowledge, affection and playful humour. Like her, I wanted to grow wings and fly with the wheatear." Maeve O'Sullivan, Poet
This collection also showcases Susan Flynn's beautiful painting 'Goldcrests'.
Since she was a small child in scenic Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow, Eithne Cavanagh has been fascinated by birds. From the day her mother showed her some tiny blue eggs lying in a nest in the hedge, birdsong has been a constant background music in her life. While at school she started writing poems. Widely published, she has received many awards for her work.
Colum Clarke is a keen amateur photographer, his photos have been used by bird interest organisations, journals, and as educational aids. He occasionally writes poetry and short stories.
Susan Flynn is a talented painter specialising in wildlife and pet portraits. She is also a poet, combining her love for art and words to celebrate the beauty of the natural world.
"Eithne Cavanagh's finely crafted poems are an elegant response to the beauty and complexity of nature. These poems unfurl the reader's heart in birdsong and flight. A heart-warming collection full of wit, grace and joy." Orla Martin, Poet
