Papers will contribute to a deeper understanding of this important collection of national heritage and investigate new perspectives on aspects of its history. Established in 1831 (and with antecedents dating back to 1670), the OPW is a central government office with responsibility for managing much of the Irish State’s property portfolio, and maintaining and presenting 780 heritage sites, including national monuments, historic landscapes, buildings and their collections.
